As a Tax Assistant Manager, you will take a proactive, hands-on role in managing day-to-day tax operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations, supporting business transactions, and driving continuous process improvements. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can independently execute, review, and resolve tax matters with minimal reliance on external advisors.

A day in your life might include

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns (CIT, VAT, FCWT, Transfer Pricing dossiers, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of tax filings in compliance with statutory deadlines.
  • Maintain and reconcile tax accounts, ledgers, and supporting schedules.

Tax Planning & Advisory

  • Support the Head of Finance in developing and executing tax planning strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives.
  • Provide tax advisory on business transactions, commercial contracts, investments, and cross-border operations by assessing tax implications and recommending practical solutions.
  • Continuously monitor newly issued tax laws, decrees, circulars, official letters, and tax authority guidance relevant to the company’s operations.
  • Assess the impact of regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation of necessary actions to maintain tax compliance.
  • Conduct technical tax research on complex tax matters and prepare written tax positions, technical memoranda, and recommendations for management.
  • Evaluate eligibility for tax incentives, tax refunds, tax exemptions, and other preferential tax treatments under applicable tax regulations
  • Prepare periodic tax updates for the CFO, highlighting significant legislative developments, emerging tax risks, and recommended mitigation or implementation plans.
  • Develop and maintain an internal tax knowledge repository to support consistent application of tax regulations across the organization.

Audit & Risk Management

  • Lead preparation for tax inspections and audits; represent the company in discussions with tax authorities.
  • Ensure proper documentation, defense files, and positions are maintained.
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks, propose practical solutions.

Operational Support

  • Work closely with finance, accounting, and business teams to ensure tax requirements are embedded in operations.
  • Review invoices, payments, and expense claims for tax compliance.

Process & Control

  • Implement and improve internal tax processes, documentation, and controls.
  • Support automation of tax reporting and reconciliation processes.

How to succeed in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related fields and at least 5–7 years of direct, hands-on tax experience.
  • Strong knowledge of local tax regulations, international tax concepts, and transfer pricing.
  • Proven experience in handling tax audits, compliance, and advisory independently.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Excel, ERP systems, and tax reporting software.
  • Strong communication skills in both VietNamese & English.
