New Zealand-based | Fully remote | Selling primarily into the US

Base salary + commission | $100k-$120k OTE

Joyous replaces traditional surveys with dynamic AI conversations and real-time action.

Instead of asking people for feedback, analysing it later and eventually deciding what to do, Joyous can understand what someone is saying in the moment, ask smarter follow-up questions and help organisations move straight from feedback into action.

We’re building something genuinely different in a market where almost everyone agrees on one thing: people hate surveys.

Joyous already has an impressive product and real traction, including many of the world’s largest telecommunications companies across the US, Europe and New Zealand. But we’re still early enough that there is a huge amount left to build, learn and achieve.

Our next chapter is creating a much more repeatable mid-market growth engine across a targeted set of ICPs, and we’re looking for an ambitious salesperson to help us pressure test and scale it.

The role

You’ll own the journey from early interest through to signed customer:

Prospect → Discovery → Demo → Proposal → Close → Hand over

This is not a blank-sheet sales role.

We already have a detailed playbook covering how we prospect, open conversations, run discovery, demo the product, follow up, handle common objections and move opportunities towards a decision. That includes scripts, messaging, sales artefacts and a defined process.

Your job will be to learn it, run it well, and help us find out where it works and where it needs to get better.

You’ll work marketing-generated leads, do your own outbound and cold calling, run discovery and demos, and keep opportunities moving.

You also won’t be doing this alone. You’ll work closely with another NZ-based salesperson who already represents the kind of approach we want to scale, giving you someone to learn from, compare notes with and grow alongside.

We’re not expecting you to invent the playbook. We are expecting you to become very good at running it and help us refine it through real customer conversations.

You’ll know you’re winning when you’re consistently turning qualified interest into new mid-market customers while helping us make the sales motion simpler and more repeatable.

Who we’re looking for

We care much more about early evidence of ability and transferable experience than a long CV.

You might be coming from an SDR, BDR, account management or early sales role and be ready to own more of the process.

B2B software, SaaS or AI experience is especially useful, as is experience working in a NZ company selling into overseas markets.

We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, learns quickly, works hard and follows through. You’ll need to manage plenty of moving parts without losing visibility of what happens next.

You should communicate simply and transparently, take ownership without needing to be chased, and be happy to step outside the normal boundaries of the role when that’s what needs doing.

You should also like coaching and iteration. We want someone who can follow a process closely enough to understand whether it works, while being thoughtful enough to spot where it can be improved.

How we work

Joyous is a small, flat and tight-knit team.

You’ll work directly with the founders and the early team who built Joyous. There aren’t layers between you, the people who built the product, and the decisions we make about what happens next.

We’re pragmatic, move quickly and avoid unnecessary process. People have a lot of freedom over how they work, and we support each other when something needs to get done.

In return, we expect strong ownership, a high work rate and clear communication.

This role will be fully remote once you’re up and running, and we’ll make sure you have a great home-office setup. We’ll spend more time together while you ramp and occasionally get together afterwards, but those catch-ups are generally optional.

Because most of your prospects and customers will be in the US, offset hours will be part of the job, usually meaning an earlier start and earlier finish rather than working a full NZ day and then continuing into the evening.

What you get

  • Southern Cross health insurance

  • Six extra paid Joy Days each year, scheduled through the months where there isn’t already a public holiday

  • EAP support

  • A great home-office setup

  • Joyous merch

  • Lots of autonomy over how you work

  • Direct access to the founders, early team and people who built the product

  • The chance to learn a full SaaS sales cycle rather than being confined to one small part of it

Why now

The product exists. Customers use it. The technology is impressive. And we already have a sales model we believe in.

What we need now is evidence that we can run it repeatedly.

You’ll be one of the first people helping us pressure test that model in the market, learn what holds up, refine what doesn’t and turn it into something we can scale.

You get the benefit of joining a company with genuine traction and experienced people to learn from, without arriving after all the interesting problems have already been solved.

Applying

Send us your CV and answer one question:

Tell us about something you’ve personally had to persuade someone to buy, support or say yes to.

A note on AI: we don’t use AI to screen applications. A human at Joyous will read every one. In return, please apply in your own words rather than asking AI to write your CV or application for you. We want to meet you, not your copilot.

Joyous is an equal opportunity employer.
