About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our team. This is a broad in-house generalist role spanning both legal and compliance work — from day-to-day contract review and commercial support to regulatory advisory, employment matters and compliance programme management. This role is based in Bangkok, Thailand and reports directly to the Head of Legal and Compliance in Singapore.

A summary of the key responsibilities are as follows:

• Support one or more Business Units across a wide range of legal and compliance matters, advising stakeholders on operational, commercial and regulatory questions.
• Review, advise on and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts — including tenancy, vendor, marketing and services agreements, insurance policies and NDAs.
• Advise on regulatory matters relevant to a regional health-tech group across Singapore, Malaysia and the other markets in which Doctor Anywhere operates — including personal data protection, telemedicine and private healthcare regulation, medical device and medicine advertising rules, employment, and payment services / insurance-related requirements.
• Develop, maintain and implement compliance policies, guidelines and training to keep the group compliant with applicable laws, regulations and industry guidelines.
• Drive the communication and consistent implementation of applicable policies and procedures across the business.
• Keep abreast of industry developments, emerging trends and new product/service launches, and assess their regulatory and compliance implications.
• Support responses to due diligence requests from clients, partners and investors, working with functions across the group.
• Integrate AI and automation into legal operations and everyday legal work, using the AI infrastructure available to the team.
• Conduct legal research on regulatory and contentious issues.

About you

• At least 5 years of Legal and Compliance experience in total (with at least 2 years’ experience in an in-house Compliance role preferred);
• Called to the bar of your local jurisdiction;
• Experience in either healthcare, insurance or data privacy will be highly preferred.
• Unquestionable integrity and consistently high standards in your work.
• Genuine curiosity and a strong desire to keep learning and growing.
• Experience within a tech start-up or hyper-growth environment is a bonus.
• A start-up attitude — you take full ownership, are willing to leave your comfort zone and take on new challenges.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to learn — we’re not done growing, and heading into uncharted territory is part of the fun
