The Director of Group Tax will be responsible for all tax matters within Airwallex. You will shape and build the tax function to support our growth plans and long term IPO ambitions. You ensure tax compliance while continuously identifying strategic opportunities in our global structure. As part of the role will focus on enabling the business to scale to new regions and/or product segments. You will manage, build, oversee and/or closely collaborate with your own regional tax teams or other finance functions.
The Director of Group tax will be part of the Finance leadership team where you closely collaborate with peers to steer the wider finance function.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the global tax function for Airwallex and build the tax team across our regions
- Ensure compliance to local tax obligations and reporting in collaboration with regional finance teams and local advisors
- Lead global tax planning projects to optimise group tax
- Work closely with product teams to ensure new product initiatives are covered from a tax perspective
- Be a key project member in regional expansion projects, natively or through acquisitions
- Develop appropriate tax-related policies and processes to make sure proper internal controls are in place and mitigate potential risks
- Support various business projects efficiency enhancement, system implementation, and any ad-hoc project/departments
What you'll bring
- 15 years of relevant professional tax experience (Big 4 experience preferred)
- Experience in global organisation with a proven ability to lead and build a teamFintech/Tech industry experience is strongly preferred
- Proven experience handling a wide range of tax topics (indirect, direct, transfer pricing)
- Excellent learning ability and keen to understand and drive business and can work under pressure
- Attention to detail is a must, with an ability to plan, organise, and prioritise
- Ability to think beyond numbers and combine data with strategy and financial insight
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
